History just "His" story?

Some people have the opinion that history is less important compared with other subjects, whether in school or university. Their view, perhaps based on ‘the past never repeats itself’.  Thus, studying this field seems irrelevant or waste our time, especially in the modern period that people are focusing the science and technology for their study or career. Personally, I strongly disagree with them. In contrast, history is very vital for everyone regardless their level in society or their age.

Being the historian or student in the history field, their minds are broadening. For example, studying other histories gives insight into a different way of life. They also will investigate in which way people lived in ancient period, such as ancient Greek or during the Roman period or Islamic dynasties. As the result, they will be able to compare these societies and their civilizations with our own as they can determine which kind of society that we live today.
History also build up the students’ skills, especially thinking skill. This field involves investigation and interpretation in dealing with the past. Thus, history teaches the students not just a story, but range of skills such as analyze the material, making the sort, and producing the research.
War is the worst moment in human life
Actually, the main reason of studying history is getting the lesson from the past. The fact that we cannot deny is our future and present determined by our past. For example, the most of history content is about human conflict that we should analyze the factor of war, revolution and the fall of civilization in order to avoid them repeat again in our present or future.

To sum it, I believe history is very important as it is our part of life. If I can, I will suggest to the government, especially the ministry of education that subject of history should be the must-pass subject for graduating.
